Russian River Valley
The Russian River growing region covers 150 square miles, with nearly 30% of all vineyard acres devoted to Pinot Noir. Influenced by the cool, coastal fog of the Pacific Ocean, the beautiful, warm days can give way to much cooler evenings. It’s not unusual for the overnight fog which enters both through the Petaluma Gap and up the Russian River to create 30-40 degree differences from the daytime temperatures. It is these warm days and cool nights which create an ideal climate for growing cool weather grape varietals like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
